"Evolution of The Well of Light"
"We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves;
otherwise we harden."
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Dear Friends,
Today is a critical point in our history.
Change is accelerating at levels never before experienced. The speed of social, technological, and biological advancement has become a dazzling blur of memories, adaptations and confrontations. This allows us an unprecedented opportunity to reinvent ourselves and our relationship to all life. This is a moment to seize.
For ten years The Well of Light has been changing.
We began this journey as an inquiry into the maps of consciousness based in moving meditation and ecstatic dance, primarily the work of Gabrielle Roth and the 5 Rhythms. Our affiliation with Bioneers and the Pachamama Alliance expanded the dialogue and led to the creation of Conversations, a radio talk show that brings you leading edge thinkers in the areas of Environmental Restoration, Social Justice and Spiritual fulfillment.
"The key to change is to let go of fear"
- Roseanne Cash
This evolutionary process has been focused on providing resources to support the co-creation of a new story that honors and respects all life. It is a journey from a culture of consumption, acquisition and waste to one of connection, cooperation and compassion. In short we have been on a journey from fear to love. I hope you will listen to some of the shows included in this issue and challenge your own unexamined beliefs and assumptions about this evolutionary unfolding of our species.
We have a tendency to look outward for our freedom. Can I move about freely? Do I have the money to buy what I want? Can I say what I want without fear of being ostracized? Is there a gun at my head? Am I a prisoner?
But, all these things are only expressions of freedom based on circumstance and situation. In some ways they are actually symbols of our separation, alienation, identity, and our expectation that we "should" have individual rights. Can there be freedom for one life above another? What about the freedom of the rivers, trees, and all the other life forms that have been so rich and abundant on this Earth? Is there freedom in nature? Do we experience our connection to our natural life cycles and support systems?
Isn't it time to rethink what it means to be a human living in nature,
rather than seeing the natural world as a stock pile of resources to feed
our voracious appetite for ever more consumer products?
"The goal of evolution is self - conquest."
- Elbert Hubbard
